Clamor: How Noise Took Over the World and How We Can Take It Back by Chris Berdik is a book that explores the pervasive impact of noise on human health, well-being, and the environment, arguing that a narrow focus on loud sounds has hindered effective noise control.

The Goal

Chris wanted to share his writing journey and promote his book authentically on social media. Blending his personality with the professional side of journalism, all in one place, was the goal. Creating appealing content while documenting the Clamor process was important to him, especially when starting fresh on social media.

My Proposal

I created mockups of graphics, stylized photos with the book, and carousel posts to brainstorm the vibe he wanted to convey. Maintaining a clean, minimalistic appearance would help the profile look classic and timeless. Ultimately, we decided to use various block quotes from the book and short reels featuring snippets of audio from podcasts on which he appeared. Intermingling journalistic posts from Substack, where he writes once a month was important too.

I helped build a plethora of content that he could use for a while, mix and matching pieces that would all fit together no matter the order.
